Meadow FCCLA members, Aaron Cano, Elvis Rodriguez, Alissa Simental, and Zoe Nickens attended the Youth In Service Leadership Symposium yesterday in Lubbock. Students were inspired by the keynote speaker, Jason Roberts, founder of the Better Block Foundation who showed them how to set goals to make a difference in their community. Students were then given resources and made connections with local service organizations at the Agency Fair. Then students participated in a service project by making fleece blankets for Saint Benedict’s Chapel, a local organization dedicated to serving local homeless, working poor, and food insecure.

Burleson Elementary held its Mayor Election this morning. Eight candidates each gave their speech, and everyone did a great job! After the speeches, the 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders casted their vote for their pick. Ballots will be counted, and the 2022-2023 Mayor will be announced at 3:00 this afternoon. Stay tuned...
Elementary Mayor elections will begin at 8:45 today in the Carpet Gym. Parents and friends are welcome to watch the candidates’ speeches.

On Friday, October 7th, MISD will dismiss at 12:55 so fans can travel to the football games at Buena Vista. Buses will run at 1:00. Thank you.

Meadow FCCLA members are selling tickets for Pedro's Tamale plates for the Homecoming Football Game, we will open up the concession stand at 5:00pm on September 30th for those that are wanting to pre-purchase their tamale plate. We will sell until we are sold out. Get your ticket early from an FCCLA member or Mrs. Rance to guarantee that you'll have a plate! $10 per plate. Proceeds will go towards members' annual dues, activities and projects for the year, and scholarships. Please bring your ticket with you when you pick up your plate!

Forensics has covered how to properly document a crime scene more specifically on how to “see a crime scene” or photograph one. They practiced this by taking multiple pictures of pieces of evidence in our mock crime scene.
